Has ever your HOA using some tricks to keep the association continuing?
Where I live? Yes. That is what I see and believe so.
How did they do?
Ok, let’s a quick sum up some.
Usually, there were some strange activities in the subdivision around the time before they tell us how much to pay and before annual meeting (actually, after we received proxy forms to fill out/sign and before annual meeting).
Another trick which I believe so, actually tricks, they made announcement that there is a sheriff coming to speak… This year is more tricks, they announced that there will be sheriff, people from Senate office… question IRS, tax, passport, VA…
Not only that, but they also held meetings at a Christian church while majority homeowners in the subdivision are Catholic church people. Since they hold meetings at the church, nobody comes, and they do whatever they want. “They”, I mean board president, board vice president and property manager at where I live. They are so powerful people.
How much (score) the reputation to a sheriff/police officer from me?
I don’t tell you the exact number, but I can tell you that it is drop since HOA where I live got a sheriff come to speak in the meeting and it even drops more since I caught a sheriff in the uniform with sheriff vehicle talking with one of board members more than 10 minutes and very often. Then later on, I believe that sheriff bought the house from that board member*… The score drops from me, not only that; to me, I believe that sheriffs serve for the people of the public in general, not a private sector… especially, nobody likes HOA in the State of Florida.
Will I give a vote for a politician who has some sort associates** with HOA?

*Actually, his dad’s house, they did some sort of quit claim back and forth before he became a board member… When the house was sold, the junior must quit claim back to the senior before finalizing the paperwork.
