Also, you need to report the money earned from the interest at the end of the year when you fill your federal income tax. Usually, the bank will send you a Form 1099-INT, Interest Income, which shows you how much you earned from their bank in that year, so you can report it to Big Uncle, Uncle Sam.
Once more, you have to pay for an extra form when filling the income tax with a tax preparer. If you do it by yourself, then don’t worry about spending that extra money.
